Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In response to the call made by Trinamool National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, the party is gearing up for the "Delhi Chalo" movement. The party has successfully dispatched the 50 lakh letters that were intended for delivery to Delhi.
These letters are a collective voice of MNREGA workers who have been denied their rightful wages. The letters are being carefully sealed in packages and sent via courier to Delhi. Their destination is the offices of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Rural Development Minister, Giriraj Singh.
Trinamool had sought an appointment to meet Giriraj Singh but hasn't received any confirmation yet. In case Giriraj Singh does not provide a meeting time, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has declared her intention to stage a dharna (sit-in protest) outside his office on October 3.
The letters are being couriered from Kolkata to Delhi to ensure that they reach the designated recipients. This approach aims to secure the signature of the receiving party in Delhi, highlighting the seriousness of the MNREGA workers' demands. Abhishek Banerjee, the Trinamool leader, had previously stated that he would personally accompany the 50 lakh letters to Delhi, underscoring the party's commitment to this cause.
